FCP 6: Video playback has a black box around the video. Can I change playback settings in FCP 6 to make it full screen?

Going old school here. I edited a video shot on a Sony PD150 4:3 and it can also record widescreen.

Record and edited in widescreen and I played it back on widescreen TV and there's a black box around the video. Can I change playback settings in FCP 6 to make it full screen or at least larger?

I also have FCP X but I am light years behind on understanding it.

Using FCPro 6 on IS 10.4.11 Tiger

Exported FCP video to quicktime and then DVD'd using iMovie HD to DVD HD
